#100DaysofRadPNWWomen
My #100DaysofRadPNWWomen project was a creative attempt to participate in the 2020 Instagram #100DaysProject challenge where artists and creatives pick one theme and medium to practice for 100 days. My goal was to digitally illustrate a hundred badass women (including those who identify as non-binary femme or gender-fluid femme) of the Pacific Northwest, from all walks of life and different professions, who inspired me for a number of different reasons. Nominations from friends, co-workers, and people on Instagram helped curate a long list of incredible individuals who contribute to and represent the PNW, influencing this great place we call home. Each week I explored a different color palette and did my best to honor the person and their work within each portrait as I practiced my illustration style. You can explore each person’s write up and links on the Instagram posts here.
*It came to my attention after having made it through 75 illustrations, that the term ‘womxn’ was not as inclusive as I thought it was, and that allies and advocates suggest using ‘women’ for cis and transgendered women, and identifying non-binary, genderfluid, femmes, or others as such. My hashtag and title update reflect that suggestion.
Original #100DaysofRadWomen
I originally attempted the #100DayProject with animated GIFs of friends and women I admired. The daily GIF making was even more work than the illustrations themselves and wasn’t long-lived for a daily habit. I still love these ones though and they clearly inspired my #100DaysofRadPNWWomen.
